In this role, you will own strategic hardware sourcing for a global technology-led financial services business. You'll partner with technology and infrastructure teams to shape sourcing decisions, manage major suppliers, and secure strong commercial terms and supply strategies. You will tackle hardware categories like servers, compute, networking, and storage, focusing on lifecycle, risk, and total cost of ownership. • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across enterprise hardware (servers, compute, networking, storage)
• Run competitive sourcing and negotiations from requirements to contract award
• Own relationships with OEMs, distributors, and strategic suppliers
• Negotiate pricing, terms, warranties, support, and SLAs
• Translate infrastructure requirements into sourcing strategies with technical stakeholders
• Assess supplier performance and hardware supply risks (availability, lead times, lifecycle)
• Support analyses on hardware refreshes, standardisation, and TCO
• Monitor market conditions and pricing developments impacting sourcing decisions
• Coordinate with regional procurement teams to harmonise supplier and category strategies

• 5+ years in technology procurement, sourcing, or category management

• Hands-on experience purchasing enterprise hardware (servers, compute, networking, storage)

• Experience leading complex sourcing projects from requirements through contracting

• Strong commercial negotiation with OEMs, distributors, and suppliers

• Understanding of hardware supply chains incl. availability, lead times, lifecycle, warranties, support

• Ability to work with engineering and infrastructure stakeholders

• Strong analytical skills (TCO, cost modelling, bid evaluation)

• Experience in international or matrixed organisations

Overview

In this role you will shape and execute Optiver's global hardware sourcing strategy, spanning servers, compute, networking, and storage. You will partner with Infrastructure and Technology teams to optimize supplier relationships and ensure resilience and scalability of our tech environment. You lead end-to-end sourcing events, negotiate terms, and translate engineering roadmaps into commercial decisions. This hands-on role combines strategic sourcing with technical collaboration in a fast-paced, engineering-led culture. You will contribute to risk management, cost optimization, and supplier governance at a global scale.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Develop and execute global hardware category sourcing strategies with the Global Category Lead
• Lead end-to-end sourcing events (RFI/RFQ/RFP) for servers, compute, networking, storage, and enterprise hardware; build evaluation models and negotiation strategies
• Own key OEM and supplier relationships; negotiate pricing, warranties, support models, and SLAs
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times, allocation, and lifecycle planning; identify risks and opportunities for resilience
• Translate engineering requirements into sourcing plans; support refresh, standardization, and total-cost-of-ownership decisions
• Collaborate with Procurement globally to align supplier strategies and frameworks across regions
• Track hardware market trends, component availability, allocation risk, and pricing to sharpen decisions
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and contracting standards; maintain records across systems
• Challenge existing processes and leverage AI/tools to automate routine work

• 5-10 years in technology procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management with hardware exposure

• Experience sourcing enterprise hardware (servers, compute, networking, storage, infrastructure)

• Proven track record delivering end-to-end sourcing projects independently

• Strong commercial judgement in negotiating with OEMs, distributors, and strategic suppliers

• Knowledge of hardware supply chain dynamics (lead times, allocation, refresh, warranties, support)

• Analytical capability including TCO, should-cost modelling, and commercial evaluation

• Experience partnering with technical and commercial stakeholders; translating engineering needs into sourcing decisions

• Excellent communication for engineering and leadership audiences

• Experience in a matrixed, global environment; familiarity with Coupa, SAP Ariba, or similar systems

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or related field

• Familiarity with operational resilience, ICT third-party risk management or regulatory frameworks such as DORA

• Professional procurement qualification (CIPS, CPSM, NEVI or equivalent)
