Dit ga je doen als Operational Controller

Bij SPIE draait Finance niet alleen om cijfers. Juist de combinatie van finance, projecten en operatie maakt jouw werk als Operational Controller interessant.

Je werkt dicht op onze projecten en bent een belangrijke gesprekspartner voor projectteams, projectmanagement en Finance. Met jouw analyses en financiële inzichten maak je zichtbaar hoe projecten ervoor staan, waar afwijkingen ontstaan en waar kansen liggen om prestaties te verbeteren.

Je rapporteert aan de Business Controller en werkt intensief samen met collega's binnen Finance en de operationele organisatie. Daarbij kijk je verder dan alleen de financiële administratie: je begrijpt wat er binnen de business unit gebeurt en vertaalt dit naar heldere stuurinformatie.

Als Operational Controller houd je grip op de financiële prestaties van onze projecten en de business unit. Je analyseert, adviseert en signaleert afwijkingen voordat deze voor verrassingen zorgen.

• Je bewaakt projectbudgetten, kosten, uren, marges en financiële voortgang;
• Je stelt betrouwbare forecasts, analyses en financiële rapportages op en vertaalt deze naar concrete stuurinformatie;
• Je ondersteunt projectteams en de business unit manager bij budgetbewaking, forecasting en een correcte financiële waardering van projecten;
• Je analyseert financiële afwijkingen en bespreekt kansen, risico's en verbeteracties met het management en de Business Controller;
• Je bewaakt de financiële projectadministratie, waaronder tijdige facturatie, urenregistratie, kosten, inkoopfacturen en het afsluiten van projecten;
• Je ziet toe op naleving van financiële procedures, interne richtlijnen en compliancekaders;
• Je draagt actief bij aan procesverbeteringen, digitalisering en de verdere ontwikkeling van projectcontrol, rapportages en ERP/BI-tools.

Daarnaast houd je oog voor werkkapitaal en cashflow en verbind je financiële informatie met wat er daadwerkelijk binnen projecten gebeurt. Zo ben jij de schakel tussen finance en de operatie.

Dit heb je nodig

Je voelt je thuis in een projectenorganisatie en combineert een scherp analytisch vermogen met goede communicatieve vaardigheden. Je wacht niet af tot iemand om cijfers vraagt, maar signaleert zelf waar aandacht nodig is.

• Je beschikt over HBO werk- en denkniveau, bij voorkeur met een afgeronde financiële opleiding;
• Je hebt minstens 5 jaar relevante ervaring binnen Finance, Control of Project Control;
• Je hebt ervaring binnen een projectenorganisatie;
• Je hebt kennis van rapportages, kostprijsopbouw, forecasting en budgetbewaking met een financiële basis;
• Je analyseert financiële gegevens en vertaalt deze begrijpelijk naar projectteams en management;
• Je bent proactief, kritisch en resultaatgericht;
• Je communiceert sterk en werkt graag samen met zowel financials als non-financials.

Ervaring met IFS en Power BI en kennis van projectadministratie helpt je om snel je weg binnen SPIE te vinden.

About this role

Join a critical finance transformation initiative as Finance Transformation Manager within our R2R Transformation team. Acting as a hands-on leader and change champion, you will drive key workstreams in our Month-End Close Reset (MEC Reset) program to build faster, highly reliable, and automated financial processes. In this role, you will lead with determination, collaborating closely across global finance, IT, and operations to deliver excellence and support our customer-centric mission.

These are some of the key components to the position:

• Lead detailed reviews of current R2R processes to design streamlined, future-state operations that reduce manual effort and accelerate timelines.
• Collaborate with global finance teams to reshape the MEC schedule, balancing workloads and driving operational excellence.
• Review and update accounting policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect optimized processes.
• Act as functional owner for key project workstreams, defining clear deliverables and driving them to completion.
• Partner with Finance Systems and IT teams to specify requirements for automation in Workday and OneStream.
• Develop and execute change management plans, training materials, and communications to support seamless adoption.
• Facilitate workshops with Country Finance Leads, Controllers, and Business Partners to build consensus and alignment.
• Ensure all redesigned processes comply with IFRS and internal control frameworks while maintaining clear audit documentation.

What will you bring to the team?

• Senior accounting or finance management background with deep expertise in Record-to-Report (R2R) and financial controls.
• Proven track record leading finance transformation, process re-engineering, or complex system implementations in multi-national environments.
• Strong understanding of IFRS standards and internal control frameworks translated into practical operational processes.
• Expert command of end-to-end R2R cycles within complex, multi-currency, and high-growth organizations.
• Broad experience with large-scale ERP systems (Workday Financials) and consolidation tools (OneStream).
• Skilled in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Prince2) and hands-on process mapping with subject matter experts.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, committed to helping teams succeed across diverse cultures.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
