Overview

As an Applied Scientist in MAPS POIs, you shape and deliver scalable AI/ML solutions for map and POI products. You drive technical direction across teams, turning data and models into production-ready systems with measurable impact. You tackle ambiguous, large-scale problems and set architectural direction that influences multiple domains. You work closely with product and engineering stakeholders to balance performance, scalability, and maintainability, contributing to TomTom's mission of delivering accurate, useful maps. This role offers meaningful impact at scale, with opportunities to mentor others and influence AI/ML strategy across the POI domain.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Lead design, implementation, and integration of scalable AI/ML systems within the POI domain
• Own end-to-end AI/ML solutions for large-scale initiatives with focus on quality and maintainability
• Solve complex, ambiguous problems with data-driven approaches
• Design production-grade algorithms and ML models for real-world use cases at scale
• Shape the technical architecture and influence long-term platform evolution
• Identify risks and dependencies, driving alignment across stakeholders
• Promote best practices in model development and system design
• Produce high-quality, production-ready code and mentor junior scientists
• Act as go-to technical expert and provide guidance within the team
• Collaborate with Product, Program, and leadership on AI/ML strategy and trade-offs
• Mentor Applied Scientists (Levels I-III) and grow team capability
• Collaborate across teams to influence product strategy and technical decisions

Belangrijkste vereisten

• Strong, up-to-date expertise in Applied Science and Machine Learning, especially in POI/geospatial contexts

• Proven ability to design, build, and deploy scalable AI/ML systems in production

• Experience solving complex, ambiguous problems from concept to production

• Development of advanced algorithmic solutions and ML models at scale

• Solid understanding of system design and architectural influence

• Deep understanding of product domain and its systems for sound trade-offs

• Strong coding skills and production-quality code in a collaborative environment
