VDS Automotive is volop in digitale ontwikkeling. We verbeteren onze processen, vernieuwen ons applicatielandschap en werken aan digitale oplossingen die onze verschillende afdelingen en collega's écht verder helpen. Daarom zoeken wij een medior of senior Product Owner Digital Solutions. Iemand die begrijpt wat de business nodig heeft, dit kan vertalen naar concrete oplossingen voor ontwikkelaars en collega's enthousiast meeneemt in verandering.

Wat ga je doen?

Als Product Owner vorm je de dagelijkse verbindende schakel tussen de business, gebruikers, ontwikkelaars en externe IT-partners. Je haalt behoeften op binnen de organisatie, brengt structuur aan en vertaalt deze naar heldere prioriteiten, requirements en user stories.

Je kijkt daarbij niet alleen naar wat technisch mogelijk is, maar vooral naar wat de organisatie en onze klanten daadwerkelijk nodig hebben. Je helpt collega's om nieuwe systemen en werkwijzen te begrijpen, te gebruiken en te omarmen.

Je werkzaamheden bestaan onder andere uit:

Ophalen, analyseren en prioriteren van wensen vanuit de verschillende afdelingen;

Vertalen van bedrijfsprocessen en gebruikersbehoeften naar duidelijke requirements, user stories en acceptatiecriteria;

Beheren en prioriteren van de product backlog;

Voorbereiden en begeleiden van refinements, sprintreviews en acceptatietesten;

Afstemming met ontwikkelaars over functionaliteiten, afhankelijkheden en voortgang;

Uitleggen van technische mogelijkheden en keuzes in begrijpelijke taal aan collega's en stakeholders;

Bewaken dat opgeleverde oplossingen aansluiten bij de behoeften van gebruikers en de afgesproken kwaliteitscriteria;

Signaleren van kansen voor digitalisering en procesverbetering;

Leveren van inhoudelijke input voor de digitale roadmap;

Begeleiden van implementaties en veranderingen binnen de organisatie;

Opstellen en verzorgen van trainingen, werkinstructies en gebruikerssessies;

Actief ophalen van feedback en deze vertalen naar verbeteringen;

Stimuleren van samenwerking tussen afdelingen en het vergroten van digitaal bewustzijn binnen VDS.

Met wie werk je samen?

Je werkt nauw samen met de Digital Strategy Manager, die verantwoordelijk is voor de overkoepelende digitale strategie, architectuurkeuzes en roadmap. Vanuit jouw dagelijkse contact met gebruikers, stakeholders en ontwikkelaars lever je belangrijke input voor deze koers.

Daarnaast werk je samen met onze IT Operations Lead, developers, systeembeheerder, procesverantwoordelijken, externe IT-partners en collega's binnen de verschillende bedrijfsonderdelen van VDS.

Wie zoeken wij?

We zoeken vooral iemand die collega's en ideeën bij elkaar kan brengen. Je hoeft niet zelf te programmeren, maar je moet techniek wel voldoende begrijpen om de juiste vragen te stellen en effectief met ontwikkelaars samen te werken.

Je herkent jezelf in het volgende profiel:

Je beschikt over hbo- of wo-werk- en denkniveau;

Je hebt meerdere jaren ervaring als Product Owner, Business Analyst, Informatieanalist of in een vergelijkbare verbindende rol;

Je kunt bedrijfsbehoeften vertalen naar concrete en begrijpelijke opdrachten voor ontwikkelaars;

Je kunt technische onderwerpen helder uitleggen aan niet-technische collega's;

Je bent communicatief sterk en kunt omgaan met verschillende belangen en prioriteiten;

Je weet mensen mee te nemen in veranderingen en krijgt energie van het vergroten van gebruikersadoptie;

Je bent benaderbaar, nieuwsgierig, gestructureerd en besluitvaardig;

Je voelt je prettig in een organisatie waarin niet alles al vaststaat en waarin je zelf kunt helpen structuur aan te brengen;

Je kunt in het Nederlands en in het Engels communiceren.

Ervaring met Agile/Scrum, Lean, procesoptimalisatie, verandermanagement of het verzorgen van trainingen is een pré. Ervaring binnen de automotive branche is welkom, maar niet noodzakelijk.

What you'll do as a Backend Developer at NS
As a Backend Developer, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining the systems that support the NS app. You'll build scalable and reliable services that meet the highest quality standards.

Your main focus will be on functionality that supports our service strategy and contributes to increasing self-service and reducing the need for customer contact. At NS, our goal is to offer services as proactively as possible: relevant to passengers and available at exactly the moment they need them.

• You develop and maintain backend services in TypeScript, deployed on AWS.
• You work closely with the Business Analyst, Product Owner and other developers to translate functional and business requirements into technical solutions.
• You write structured, clean code, address technical debt and resolve security vulnerabilities where necessary.
• You improve the quality, reliability and robustness of our backend by working test-driven and understanding how monitoring tools such as Datadog can be used effectively.
• You stay up to date with the latest developments in backend technologies and share your knowledge with both the team and the wider developer community.

Hier ga je werken
You'll work from our head office near Utrecht Central Station as well as from home, as part of a multidisciplinary DevOps team. You'll work alongside another Backend Developer, an iOS Developer and an Android Developer. The team also includes a UX/UI Designer, Scrum Master and Product Owner.

Within the Service domain, there is extensive collaboration with other teams, for example teams that maintain services for the Forgotten Check-out process and teams working on the JeNS chatbot.

Together, we brainstorm innovative solutions, collaborate closely and explore new possibilities both within and beyond our own areas of expertise. And, of course, you'll spend plenty of time doing what you enjoy most: developing. We support you with the latest technologies.

Our team is one of seven teams jointly responsible for components of the NS app. Backend Developers meet every week to present their work and discuss improvements that benefit multiple teams. These meetings give you the opportunity to make an impact and help shape our technical direction.

Our developer culture values everyone's input. Nothing is "set in stone."

The codebase Our backend currently consists of serverless applications deployed on AWS. We are actively working towards stateless front-end applications by using a BFF (Backend for Frontend) architecture.

There is also a strong demand for an app that can adapt to passengers as they travel. To achieve this, we use applications outside our own team for content and personalisation. A versatile backend is therefore essential to providing excellent service.

There is a constant challenge to innovate and optimise. We work with a DevOps mindset and aim to make our services as efficient and reliable as possible. You'll have plenty of room to contribute your own ideas and experiment with new technologies.

Important aspects of Agile working, such as collaboration, responding to change and delivering value in short cycles, fit naturally with the way you work. You have strong communication skills, take ownership and are confident in making decisions.

Your primary experience is with TypeScript. You're also willing to learn other technologies and broaden your technical knowledge. Experience with both is considered an advantage.

• You have a higher professional education level (Dutch HBO level) or equivalent level of working and thinking.
• You have experience developing serverless applications on AWS and deploying applications using CDK.
• You're willing to learn other technology stacks and expand your knowledge.

What you'll do as an Android Developer at NS
As an Android Developer, you will be responsible for the continued development and maintenance of the NS app. You'll build user-friendly features that meet the highest quality standards. Examples include improvements to the journey planner, booking flow, customer service features, personalization, and integrations with mobility partners.

• Collaborate closely with UX designers to create user interfaces and features that meet customer needs.
• Work together with the Business Analyst and Product Owner to translate functional and business requirements into technical solutions.
• Write clean, well-structured code and proactively tackle legacy code when you encounter it.
• Improve the quality, reliability, and robustness of the NS app by maintaining strong code coverage.

Team Guide is a multidisciplinary DevOps team consisting of:

Team Guide plays a key role in informing and guiding millions of travelers every day. The team develops and maintains innovative features that provide travelers with relevant information at the right moment to make traveling with NS easier. Also the team is in charge of proactively warning for planned works, disruptions, and incidents. Example features include push notifications about engineering works, disruption alerts, personalized travel information, and proactive travel guidance based on expected journeys.

Through these solutions, Team Guide directly contributes to several strategic NS objectives, including increasing app usage, further personalizing the travel experience, improving IT quality, and reducing customer contact by providing travelers with faster and more accurate information.

Android developers across NS meet weekly to showcase their work, discuss shared challenges, and drive technical improvements. During these sessions, you can make a real impact and help shape the future direction of Android development within NS.

The Codebase

The NS app codebase consists of more than 120 modules, structured according to Clean Architecture principles.

While part of the application still contains legacy code (including Java), the team actively modernizes and replaces outdated components. All new features are built using:

• Kotlin
• Kotlin Coroutines

• Our in-house design system Nessie in Jetpack Compose (NS Design System)

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2-3 years of experience developing Android applications using Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, and Jetpack Compose within a Scrum or DevOps environment.
• Experience with Clean Architecture and writing unit tests and Espresso tests.
• Strong team spirit. Your flexibility and collaborative mindset help strengthen the team.
