For Spectral Industries, we are seeking a senior-level Business Development professional whose primary focus will be the development of a sustainable customer portfolio within the mining sector, across Australia, Chile, and Canada. This role is expected to become one of the key commercial leaders in Spectral’s global scaling journey.
Mining represents a strategically important growth market with significant commercial potential for Spectral Industries, as the benefits of rapid, non-contact elemental analysis create immediate and measurable value for mining operations. Even small improvements in ore sorting or process control can result in substantial cost savings.
In a later phase, the company will expand into additional industries, including recycling in Europe. To support this market, Spectral Industries is also recruiting a medior-level Business Development professional focused on the recycling sector.
Over the past few years, Spectral Industries has invested in the development of its advanced high-tech measurement systems, and is now ready to accelerate their international market adoption.
Recently, the company appointed a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead the development and execution of its commercial strategy, laying the foundation for sustainable business growth. Building and expanding a strong, professional commercial team is one of the organization's key priorities.
What will you do as a Business Development Director at Spectral Industries?
- As a key member of the commercial team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering Spectral Industries' international growth strategy. Through your commercial initiatives, you will increase market awareness of Spectral Industries and its products, while clearly demonstrating the value proposition and operational impact of its technology to customers.
- You will establish and grow the market within the mining sector (and/or recycling sector) by acquiring new customers. You will identify new business opportunities, develop and strengthen relationships with customers and prospects, and contribute to the execution of the go-to-market strategy for Spectral Industries' products.
- You will be responsible for revenue generation and the development of a healthy commercial pipeline.
- You will regularly visit customers and prospects, building long-term strategic relationships with mine operators, engineering firms, technology partners, and key industry stakeholders across the mining value
- You will gather market intelligence and competitive insights, providing valuable input for Spectral Industries' growth strategy.
- You will report directly to the CCO.
Over het bedrijf
Spectral Industries BV is a Dutch technology company based in Delft, developing advanced measurement solutions for the global mining, metals production, and recycling industries. Its measurement systems are built around the core technology LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy), an emission spectroscopy technique that provides an elemental fingerprint of the sample under investigation. Combined with intelligent software, this technology enables the near-instant, on-site determination of the chemical composition of material streams. Integrated into optical sensors mounted above conveyor belts, the systems continuously analyse raw materials, ores, metals, and recycled materials in real time.
The data generated provides customers with immediate insight into material composition, including which elements are present and in what concentrations, without having to wait for laboratory results. These real-time insights enable faster and better decision-making across extraction, production, and processing operations.
Enhanced control over material streams helps reduce energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, and waste:
- Mining companies can optimize ore sorting and processing operations throughout the mining value chain;
- Metal producers can continuously monitor and optimize their production processes in-line and in real time;
- Recycling companies can improve material recovery by accurately identifying metals and other materials, including difficult-to-measure elements such as lithium and carbon, enabling more effective sorting and reuse.
As a result, Spectral Industries' solutions help customers improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize operational performance.
Founded in 2015, Spectral Industries was established with a clear mission: to bring LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) technology out of the laboratory and into real-world industrial operations. Building on more than a decade of experience in LIBS-based material analysis, the company has developed advanced measurement solutions that deliver actionable insights directly in the field, enabling customers to make faster and better operational decisions.
With a growing international installed base and increasing market adoption, Spectral Industries is currently transitioning from a predominantly project-driven organization to a product-focused business. This transformation is centred around its flagship product platforms, CorePulse and BeltPulse.
Wat breng jij
- A proven track record of at least 8 years in sales and business development, combined with an established international network within the mining sector and/or recycling industry. You have demonstrated the ability to independently develop new markets and successfully drive commercial growth.
- A BSc or MSc degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geochemistry, Process Metallurgy, Mineral Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Experience with commercializing innovative capital equipment, sensor systems, process technology or industrial instrumentation. You are able to engage as a credible technical discussion-partner and understand how to successfully bring innovative technologies to market. Experience with consultative selling is essential.
- A strong commercial drive and entrepreneurial mindset, characterized by a proactive approach to building and expanding a relevant professional network, the ability to convert commercial opportunities into tangible business results, a focus on achieving objectives, a talent for developing strategic partnerships, and a naturally curious attitude.
