Je komt te werken als Mechanical Engineer / Product Specialist in een technische omgeving waar ontwerpen, testen en praktische implementatie samenkomen. Je ondersteunt verkoop en monteurs bij technische vraagstukken, maakt lay-out tekeningen en werkt prototypes uit en door. Dagelijks merk je dat jouw oplossingen direct invloed hebben op installatie en werking van systemen bij klanten. Je bent verantwoordelijk voor het analyseren van problemen, het bedenken van haalbare oplossingen en het verbeteren van bestaande producten. In deze rol krijg je veel hands-on werk, korte lijnen met collega’s en ruimte om je technisch te ontwikkelen, zowel op mechanisch als op elektrotechnisch gebied. Je werkt in een compact, internationaal georiënteerd team met mogelijkheden voor persoonlijke groei.

Functie-inhoud

• Ondersteunen van verkopers bij technische vraagstukken en opstellen van duidelijke lay-out tekeningen voor klanten en monteurs.
• Analyseren van klantproblemen, ontwikkelen van praktische oplossingen en testen van prototypes om prestaties en kwaliteit te waarborgen.
• Samenwerken met monteurs bij installatie, inbedrijfstelling en optimalisatie van systemen op locatie en in de productieomgeving.
• Doorontwikkelen van bestaande systemen en uitwerken van nieuwe producten voor het portfolio, inclusief evaluatie en bijstelling van ontwerpen.

Functie-eisen

• HBO-werk- en denkniveau in Werktuigbouwkunde of Mechatronica, met aantoonbare ervaring in mechanisch ontwerpen en productontwikkeling.
• Uitgebreide kennis van Inventor en AutoCAD; je zet nauwkeurige 2D- en 3D-ontwerpen efficiënt en accuraat om in tekeningen.
• Affiniteit met elektrotechniek en de bereidheid om deze kennis verder te ontwikkelen en praktisch toe te passen in systemen.
• Communicatief vaardig in Nederlands en Engels; Duits of Frans is een pré en je werkt oplossingsgericht met een hands-on mentaliteit.

Nordson Industrial Coating Solutions, a global leader in industrial coating systems, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Associate Commercial Lab Engineer to join our team in Geleen, Netherlands. Summary of the role

The Associate Commercial Lab Engineer supports safe, effective, and efficient testing activities in the European demonstration center. Working under the guidance of senior lab engineering, sales, or business development colleagues, this role assists with equipment setup, test execution, documentation, lab organization, and preparation of customer demonstrations. This position is ideal for an early-career technical professional looking to develop product, application, and customer-facing skills while contributing to commercial opportunities and laboratory excellence across the European sales organization.

Role and Responsibilities

• Support customer tests and demonstrations in the European demonstration center, under supervision.
• Assist with preparation, setup, operation, and clean-up of lab equipment for defined test scenarios.
• Follow established safety procedures and laboratory standards when working with equipment, materials, hand tools, power tools, and electrical systems.
• Document test conditions, observations, results, equipment settings, and relevant technical details accurately and consistently.
• Coordinate with senior colleagues, engineering, sales, and application specialists to understand test objectives and priorities.
• Help maintain the lab in a clean, organized, safe, and audit-ready condition.
• Execute basic maintenance tasks on the lab and demo equipment.
• Conduct basic training sessions for both internal teams and external customers
• Assist with tracking lab supplies, consumables, tools, and equipment readiness, escalating needs for replenishment or maintenance.
• Contribute to basic troubleshooting and problem-solving during tests, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
• Develop product and application knowledge across relevant Nordson ICS product lines.
• Support preparation of test summaries, customer-facing information, and internal updates as requested.

Skills and Qualifications

• Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, vocational qualification, or equivalent technical training in engineering, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, industrial, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in a technical, laboratory, manufacturing, service, engineering, or customer-support environment.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to document technical information accurately and consistently.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and customer-facing personnel.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Analytical mindset with basic problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies, products, and applications.
• English language skills required; German or additional European language skills are considered an advantage.
• Exposure to automation, electrical systems, robot programming, or powder finishing applications is beneficial but not required.

Travel

• Occasional travel within Europe may be required to support customer demonstrations, training activities, and business needs.
