Overview

In this role you help BYD manage customs compliance across Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, and the UK, linking regional operations with BYD China. You will shape internal processes, defend compliance with EU customs authorities, and lead audit activities. The position offers impact through enabling smooth cross-border trade and advancing the company's zero-emission agenda. You will work with cross-functional teams to reduce risk and drive qualification initiatives that support our manufacturing footprint.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Ensure smooth customs operations and identify tax exemption and cost policies
• Represent BYD in dealings with local and EU customs authorities and associations
• Develop and implement internal customs management, processes, and policy execution; conduct audits
• Coordinate with external consultants, identify risks, plan processes, and manage reports
• Lead and support customs qualification certification projects (e.g., AEO)

Belangrijkste vereisten

• Bachelor degree or higher

• 5+ years EU customs compliance management experience and 10+ years in customs affairs

• English as main working language; Hungarian/German preferred; Chinese proficiency advantageous

• Deep knowledge of EU customs law and supervision operations; experience with AEO certification or audits

• Experience in customs management for manufacturing/automotive sectors or advising those clients

• Experience in group-wide tax planning and tariff import/export planning

• Experience leading customs audits and defenses

• Hungarian customs expert certificates preferred or prior customs officer experience
