Senior Accountant - EMEA VAT Specialist

Overview

In this role you will lead VAT compliance and reporting for multiple EMEA jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with local laws and EU directives. You will collaborate with Finance, Tax, and business teams to support cross-border transactions and minimize VAT risk. The position focuses on process standardization, controls, and accurate statutory reporting, with exposure to audits and regulatory interactions. You will drive VAT efficiency and provide advisory support for new business models and country expansions. This is an opportunity to shape regional VAT practice within a multinational manufacturing group.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Prepare, review, and file periodic VAT returns across EMEA
• Manage ESL, Intrastat, and other VAT reporting requirements
• Reconcile VAT GL accounts and review VAT postings in ERP (SAP)
• Support month-end/year-end VAT closing and investigate discrepancies
• Provide VAT advisory on cross-border transactions and new business setups
• Act as main contact for VAT audits and coordinate with external advisors
• Drive standardization and automation of VAT processes across EMEA
• Train and advise non-tax stakeholders on VAT matters
• Collaborate with local finance teams and supply chain on VAT issues
• Ensure timely VAT filings and maintain audit-ready documentation

Belangrijkste vereisten

• 5-8+ years of VAT/indirect tax experience in multinational environments

• Strong knowledge of EMEA VAT regimes (EU VAT Directive, local rules)

• Experience with statutory reporting and audits

• ERP experience, SAP preferred

• Solid IFRS/local GAAP understanding

• Experience with VAT compliance tools or automation is a plus

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
