You will bring:

  • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in Dutch absenteeism management and long-term sickness legislation.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant HR experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience). HR certification preferred.
  • Key skills: Deep expertise in the Dutch Gatekeeper Act, stakeholder and vendor management, people leadership, and handling Works Council (Ondernemingsraad) or union dynamics.

what will you do
Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Strategic HR partnership: Assess organizational health, implement local action plans, coach senior leadership, and support succession planning and resource forecasting.
  • Absenteeism & case management: Manage complex long-term sickness cases in full compliance with the Dutch Gatekeeper Act (Wet verbetering poortwachter). Partner directly with occupational health services (Arbodienst), the UWV, and handle WIA applicati
  • Subject matter expertise: Serve as the go-to expert for Dutch long-term sickness legislation, advising managers, HR partners, and legal teams on compliance and policy changes.
  • Team leadership & operations: Lead and coach team members, prioritize workloads, resolve escalated HR/employee relations issues, and manage mutual agreement separations (VSO).
  • Retail & store operations: Conduct Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) in-store visits and support market store openings and closures.
  • Continuous improvement: Educate managers on sickness obligations, optimize HR tech platforms, and streamline processes to reduce long-term absenteeism.
