who are you
You are a WO master student who can start as soon as possible. You are available for a minimum of 6 months and 32 to 40 hours per week. You can work full-time onsite (4 lab days and 1 desk day).

  • WO master student in biotechnology, bioprocess development, biochemistry;
  • Problem-solving skills;
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Flexibility to adapt to business needs;
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing;
  • Good communication and ensure you escalate the issue in a timely manner;
  • Affinity for purification.

what will you do
The Advanced Therapies API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) Process Development department designs and develops scalable manufacturing processes for a diverse panel of pharmaceutical products. Our work spans the full workflow from cell culture through downstream purification. We partner closely with our local pilot plant, to enable production of innovative therapies for clinical evaluation.

  • Utilize displacement chromatography to achieve high-resolution separation of biomolecules with small differences in affinity;
  • Develop a proof-of-concept application for potential implementation within large-scale production processes;
  • Design and execute experiments to effectively separate pharmaceutical biomolecules from impurities;
  • Evaluate alternative chromatography configurations, specifically focusing on Displacement Chromatography, to expand our technical toolbox.

who are you
HBO or WO student who is studying Technical Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering or Electronics. Someone who brings new and fresh insights. Someone who recognizes key issues and takes initiative. Who would like to address the theoretical aspect of the project.

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team;

what will you do
You will join our team that focusses on developing dashboarding for discrete processes used in Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) manufacturing for Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision in Groningen. Our Engineering team consists of 33 employees with background(s) in various engineering fields. The Engineering Department is responsible for maintaining and improving the production equipment and processes to efficiently manufacture IOLs using discrete processes. Project Manufacturing 2.0 is aiming to provide dashboarding of every process node for daily performance management. Therefore we are looking for a creative candidate with a background in control system engineering to help develop this dashboard. The project will be executed in a team where you will be part of.

  • Use Ignition to build a SCADA environment that can interface with equipment;
  • Understanding the
  • user information need and translating that information to a functional
  • requirement;
  • Translate functional requirement to a working architecture with sensors and interfaces with other databases or machine PLC’s;
  • Designing the dashboard for real time tracking and build a database for historical data;

Zoek je een unieke stage waar je meehelpt aan belangrijke medicijnen en de handen uit de mouwen mag steken? Jij bent een aanpakker die niet afwacht, flexibel meebeweegt als de dag anders loopt en altijd je hoofd koel houdt als het even druk is. We zoeken een stagiair die:

  • Bezig met een MLO niveau 4 in de richting van biotechnologie, biochemie, biogeneeskunde; procestechnologie of soortgelijk. Je zit in je 3de of 4de jaar.
  • Beschikbaar om vanaf september 2026 te starten voor minimaal 5 maanden stage;
  • Je werkt nauwkeurig en hebt analytische vaardigheden;
  • Goede beheersing van Nederlands en Engelse taal.

wat ga je doen
Bij de afdeling Operations van Johnson & Johnson werk je mee aan de productie van Lentiviral Vector (LVV). Dit is een onmisbaar onderdeel van de CAR-T behandeling tegen multipel myeloom. Het proces verloopt in verschillende stappen, van celexpansie, virusproductie en -zuivering tot geautomatiseerd vullen en etiketteren. Het proces wordt uitgevoerd onder strikte GMP- en BSL2-voorwaarden. Er zijn verschillende plekken zoals:

Upstream Processing
De kerntaak van de USP-afdeling is het opkweken van cellen en transfectie met plasmide DNA waarna de cellen virussen gaan produceren.

Downstream Processing
DSP is verantwoordelijk voor het opzuiveren van de virusdeeltjes met behulp van verschillende technieken zoals ion-exchange chromatografie en ultrafiltratie.

Fill & Finish
F&F is verantwoordelijk voor het uitvullen, visuele inspectie en klaarmaken van het product voor invriezen en opslag.
