MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGIST
The position
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations based in Germany, and indirectly to the Site manager in Zaandam, the Manufacturing Technologist provides the primary link between the production, the management of the site and the technical teams.
The Manufacturing Technologist provides technical support to the Production team to ensure that products are manufactured the most efficient manner to meet the appropriate quality specifications.
Responsibilities
- Conduct audits, investigations, or other reviews to evaluate, design and develop manufacturing processes and equipment that add value, efficiency and consistency. Validate the capacity increases from process improvements using data from SAP and commercial forecasts.
- Provide accurate and timely reports on key issues, statistics and potential improvements on a regular basics and provide support in formulation of SOPs and documentation.
- Produce internal documentation required to support the capital expenditure approval process for major projects.
- Develop innovative new processes and process improvements, based upon best practices, that deliver safe, efficient, and best quality outcomes.
- Ensure that major production processes have clearly communicated and agreed specifications and operational goals.
- Produce process maps for the current process and the new process throughout the design phases and post commissioning.
- Establish contacts with potential suppliers to ensure awareness of the most up to date equipment and industry best practice.
- Deliver various process improvements projects from concept through to validation.
Qualifications
The best candidate will be a goal focused, self-starter and requires minimal day to day managing.
- Educated to degree standard in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Several years' experience of manufacturing processes and product testing (of inks) in fluids and a good understanding of the latest technology in this area.
- Knowledge in dispersion techniques
- Excellent influencing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Language's knowledge: fluency in English & Dutch. German is an asset.
- Proven capability to manage projects to a successful conclusion.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to produce innovative solutions.
- Qualified green belt in Lean Sigma
- Computer skills: MS Office, SAP & ETQ.
- Formal business improvement qualification would be desirable.
